      1 EXT. LAFAYETTE CEMETERY - NIGHT 1

This is the famous cemetery, kids. It's the one in all the
movies, the Anne Rice novels, and now in this episode. Just like
all the cemeteries in New Orleans, the Lafayette Cemetery is a
city of above-ground tombs. Wide pathways lined with trees
separate the tombs, which gleam in the moonlight.

Our story starts where many have before, in the middle of a big
ol' CEMETERY FIGHT. DAWN exchanges blows with a nasty-looking
VAMPIRE in a really ugly three-piece tweed suit. Dawn's not
            doing so well.

            ANGLE: A STATUE

with it's head broken off by the passage of time, gleams
silently in the moonlight. All's quiet for a moment, before
Dawn's thrown clear through the statue - shattering it into
            pieces.

Dawn ends up on her back with stone dust all over her. She kips
up, her weariness showing, and eyes the advancing vamp.

                                DAWN
                          (out of breath)
                      Okay. I have a quick question. I
                      mean, I need to know...

            The vamp kicks, she dodges.

                                DAWN (CONT'D)
Did you pick out that suit
                      yourself?

She spins, kicks him in the head. He staggers back into the wall
            of a nearby tomb.

                                DAWN (CONT'D)
If your family picked it out for
you, then okay. It's not your
                      fault, but...

He tries to punch her, but she blocks it and kicks him right
back into the wall he's up against. He slides down it, nearly
            beat.

                                DAWN (CONT'D)
                      Come on, though. Three-piece
                      tweed suits? What is this,
                      wardrobe done by British
                      librarian?

She STAKES HIM in the heart - HE'S DUST. Dawn staggers back and
sits down against a nearby tomb, exhausted.

                                AMY (O.S.)
                      You're still telegraphing your
punches. I could see what you
were going to do before you did
                      it.

Dawn, not in the mood for patronizing, glares at AMY, who's
calmly walking over to Dawn from her hiding place in between two
            tombs.

                                DAWN
You want to be the one sparring
with vampires? Be my guest. One
                      less annoying watcher around,
                      then.

Amy sits down beside Dawn, her tone becoming much more friendly.

                                AMY
                      Dawn. We've been over this.
                      Slayers slay. Watchers...

                                DAWN
                          (sarcastically)
                      Watch?

Amy gives Dawn a withering look.

                                AMY
I'm here to train you, not to
                      baby you.

                                DAWN
                      Please not with the patronizing.
                      I'm battered, bruised, and I'm
                      pretty sure I'm a perfect
                      candidate for an air-freshener
                      commercial right about now.

Dawn picks herself up and dusts herself off.

                                DAWN (CONT'D)
Lets go home... Er... back to the
                      dorms.
Or have you forgotten about that
                      wonderful quiz you're giving
                      tomorrow?

Amy sighs and begins to walk with Dawn to the gate leading out
            of the cemetery.

                                AMY
It's not as if I enjoy being in a
cemetery in the middle of the
night. I could be at home...

                                DAWN
                          (interrupting)
                      Having tea? Grading papers?

                                AMY
                      Yes... No. I have many
                      interesting hobbies.

The pair leave the cemetery and start to walk down the nearby
            street.

                                DAWN
                      Such as...?

                                AMY
                          (hesitates)
That's not the point. The point
                      is...

                                GREG (PRELAP)
That this music is driving me
                      nuts!

                                                                    CUT TO:

      2 INT. DORM ROOM - NIGHT 2

We're inside a typical dorm room - just like all the others
you've seen. It's a double, and both of it's occupants, GREG and
DAN, are sitting at their respective desks, trying to study.

Not an easy thing to do right now - there's some extremely LOUD
MUSIC coming from the dorm room next door. The throbbing beat of
some punk-rock is making it impossible to get any work done.

Dan drops his pen and throws up his arms in defeat.

                                DAN
                      It's midnight already. He's been
listening to that crap for hours.

Dan turns to the wall next to him and pounds on it with his
            fist, yelling:

                                DAN (CONT'D)
                      Hey ass-hole! Turn off your
                      music.

No response. The song just keeps on playing.

                                GREG
Dude. Call the RA. We're never
going to pass that bio quiz with
                      this racket going on.

                                DAN
Nuh-uh. I am not going to be that
                      guy.

                                GREG
                          (stands up)
You know what? I am. I'm sick and
                      tired of this.

At that, Greg opens the door to his dorm room and walks out
            into:

      3 INT. DORM HALLWAY - CONTINUOUS 3

Greg, looking pissed as all hell, strides the handful of steps
it takes to get to the next dorm room and pounds on the door...
Which, because it's actually ajar, swings inward on the first
pound. The loud and obnoxious ROCK MUSIC fills the hallway. Greg
            walks right in.

      4 INT. PAUL'S DORM ROOM - CONTINUOUS 4

The room's dark. The only light filters into the single room
from the bathroom door, which is open a crack.

Greg, surprised that no one's apparently here, walks
purposefully over to the BLAZING STEREO and shuts it off. The
silence is music to our ears.

Greg peers around the room, looking for any sign of it's
occupant. After a moment, Greg turns on a bedside lamp. He
freaks when the light reveals a pair of large snake-like
creatures huddling over something right next to him. The snakes
HISS and knock Greg to the ground, then turn and jump out the
            window.

                                GREG
                      What the f...

Greg falls silent when he sees the face of Paul, illuminated by
the light leaking out of the bathroom, dead and lying in a pool
of his own blood on the floor.

Greg shrieks out in terror and backpedals on his hands and knees
until he's halfway out of the door. WE PUSH IN on his expression
            of horror as we:

                                                                 BLACK OUT:

                                    END OF TEASER

                                       ACT ONE

5 EXT. MAIN TULANE QUAD - DAY 5

It's a beautiful day in New Orleans. The main quad is teeming
with students enjoying the nice weather on their way to class.

      6 INT. LECTURE HALL - DAY 6

Professor Reynolds class is not enjoying the weather. In fact,
they're in the middle of taking a quiz. All the students, DAWN
and TORI among them, are busy concentrating on their tests.

AMY is sitting at a small table at the front of the lecture
hall, reading a book. She checks her watch, then looks up and
            addresses the class:

                                AMY
                      Time's up. Please hand your
quizzes to the TAs on your way
                      out.

The class stops their work and starts to pack up. Amy gathers
her things and exits the lecture hall.

            ANGLE: DAWN AND TORI

head down their isle - the last people out - and then towards
the door, where JESSAMINE is collecting quizzes.

Tori gives another glance at the quiz in her hand.

                                TORI
Have I mentioned yet today how
                      much I hate tests?

                                DAWN
                          (smiles)
Only about three or four times.

The pair reach Jess, who smiles at them, collects their quizzes
            and follows them out into:

7 INT. ANTHROPOLOGY BUILDING COURTYARD - CONTINUOUS 7

The beautiful, sunlit courtyard is filled with students heading
to and from class. Jess catches up and walks with Dawn and Tori.

                                TORI
                      Well I hate tests.

Jess looks down at Tori's quiz in her hand and then
            questioningly looks at Tori.

                                JESS
                      Tori?

                                TORI
                      Yuh-uh?

                                JESS
                          (confused)
As far as I can tell, you got
                      everything right.

                                TORI
                          (off their looks)
I never said I did badly on
tests, just that I wig when I
                      take them.

            They exit the courtyard into:

8 INT. ANTHROPOLOGY BUILDING COMMONS - CONTINUOUS 8

The commons is a small, well lit area, with a bunch of tables
and chairs. Students are milling around, some studying, others
            chatting with friends.

Dawn, Tori, and Jess sit down at a round table. Dawn and Tori
pull out some books and start studying while Jess starts grading
            the tests.

Suddenly, there's a commotion in the hallway. The trio look up
from what they were doing just as Amy walks by with the Dean of
the Anthropology Department at her heels.

A thin, bearded, nervous-looking man of late middle-age, Dean
ROGER PRICHARD is obviously agitated about something. He's full
in the middle of a conversation as the two walk up to a glass
door nearby - AMY REYNOLDS, PROFESSOR is stenciled on the
            frosted glass.

                                DEAN PRICHARD
                      Gone, Amy! Just gone. Yesterday
it was there, now it's not. I'm
going to be crucified if it's not
                      found.

Amy, a Styrofoam cup of tea in one hand and a newspaper in the
other, calmly places the newspaper on a nearby table and turns
            to address the dean.

                                AMY
                      Roger, a centuries-old mummy does
                      not just vanish overnight. I'm
                      sure...

                                DEAN PRICHARD
                          (interrupts)
Well what else would you call the
                      disappearance of a priceless
                      mummy on loan from Cairo?

JAKE and PETE, just out of class, enter the commons and stare at
            the crazy argument taking place.

                                AMY
                          (forceful)
Roger! Get a hold of yourself.
I'll look into it and I'm sure
                      we'll find the mummy.

Dean Prichard stops blubbering and takes a few deep breaths. He
notices his audience and puts on his best calm face.

                                DEAN PRICHARD
                      Right. I'm sure that everything
                      will turn out just fine.

            He starts to leave.

                                DEAN PRICHARD (CONT'D)
                      Keep me up to date.

And he exits. Amy lets out a deep breath and takes a large sip
of her tea. She unlocks her office door and we

            FOLLOW HER INTO:

      9 INT. AMY'S OFFICE - CONTINUOUS 9

Amy's office is more of a suite than a single office. Amy's into
the whole old world thing, so think "Set by British museum
curator." Shelves all around are overflowing with books. Amy's
office proper is through a glass window at the far side of the
            room.

Jake and Pete walk in followed by Tori and Jess. A moment later,
Dawn reluctantly walks in, Amy's newspaper in her hand.

                                JAKE
                      Mummy-napping?

                                AMY
                      It would appear so.

Why would someone want to steal a
                      mummy?

                                AMY
                      There are countless reasons, both
mystical and not. But we have
                      larger problems, I'm afraid.

Dawn walks over to a table and opens the newspaper. Jake puts
his bag down and plops in a cushy chair.

                                JAKE
                      What's worse than some weirdo
                      with a mummy fetish?
                          (off their looks)
                      I know I wasn't the only one
                      thinking that.

                                DAWN
                      This is worse.

Dawn indicates the paper, which she has now put down, open, on
            the coffee table.

            INSERT - THE NEWSPAPER

It's today's paper, and its headline reads: GRUESOME DEATH ON
TULANE CAMPUS - WILD ANIMALS SUSPECTED.

                                PETE
                      Not wild animals?

                                AMY
Um... the student who found the
body claims to have seen two
                      large snake-like shapes attack
him and then jump out of a nearby
                      window.

                                TORI
                      And we're thinking...?

                                AMY
Haven't the faintest idea at the
                      moment. The amount of demonic
beings with a snake-like form is
                      truly staggering.

Jess stops grading papers and comes out into the common room.

                                JESS
                      Professor, I know someone who
                      might be able to help.

Amy thinks for a moment and then nods.

                                AMY
Let me know if you learn
                      anything.

Jess grabs her jacket from a hook by the door and leaves.

                                DAWN
                      Great. Just great. Can't the
                      demons leave me alone?

                                AMY
Dawn. You need to go investigate
                      the crime scene.

                                DAWN
Not my problem. I need to study
                      for bio.

She makes to go, but Amy calls her back.

                                AMY
                          (icily)
Do you want someone else to die?

Dawn glares back at Amy, then gathers her things and leaves.

                                JAKE
                      We're on research detail then?

                                JAKE
Well I got dibs on the snake

                      Mummies give me the wig.
                          (looks at the books)
Pete, give me a hand with this?

Jake tosses an old-looking book at Pete, who catches it deftly.
A look of pure anxiety crosses Amy's face.

                                AMY
Don't do that! Some of those
books are older than you are.

Pete shrugs, as if to say - sorry, not my fault - and gets to
            researching. Amy glares at Jake.

     10 INT. DORM HALLWAY - DAY 10

Dorm hallway - pretty empty at the moment. Police tape is
stretched across the door to Paul's dorm room and a female
federal agent, AGENT MURDOCH, is busy questioning a student in
the b.g. She doesn't notice Dawn, who manages to sneak into the
            cordoned off dorm-room unseen.

     11 INT. PAUL'S DORM ROOM - CONTINUOUS 11

The room has been thoroughly gone over by the local crime-lab.
The body has been removed - only a chalk outline remains, and
cardboard squares with numbers printed on them are placed
throughout the room - signifying important evidence.

Dawn glances over the room quickly, then noticing something,
moves to Paul's desk, pulling a small digital camera out of her
            bag as she moves.

            INSERT - THE DESK

Is cluttered with books and other junk, but something to one
corner catches Dawn's eye. A bag, filled with spell components
sits next to a few ancient looking spell books.

Dawn quickly snaps a few pictures. She puts the camera back in
her purse and gently lifts up one of the spell books.

                                AGENT DHIVER (O.S.)
                      Ma'am?

Suddenly, a hand grips Dawn's shoulder. Slayer senses active,
Dawn drops the book and hits the agent in the stomach. He goes
FLYING across the room and lands on the bed. Dawn immediately
blanches when she notices the agent's badge poking out of his
            inside jacket pocket.

                                DAWN
Oh, I'm so sorry. I thought you
were... Let me help you. Are you
                      alright?

Dawn makes to help the agent, but he waves off her help and gets
unsteadily to his feet, looking warily at Dawn. SPECIAL AGENT
HAROLD DHIVER is a not unattractive man in his early thirties.
He's wearing a suit and tie, Agent Mulder style, and looks
            pretty tired.

                                AGENT DHIVER
                      I'm fine. Nothing seriously hurt.
My ego's a bit bruised though.
                          (rubs his hurt ribs)
                      You certainly pack a wallop.
                          (beat)
I'm going to have to ask you to
leave the room though. This is a
                      crime scene, miss...?

                      Summers. Dawn Summers. I'm an...
                      uh... acquaintance of...

Dawn has no idea what the student's name was.

                                AGENT DHIVER
                          (leading Dawn out to the

                      Paul's?

     12 INT. DORM HALLWAY - CONTINUOUS 12

            Same as before.

                                DAWN
Yeah. We had a class together. I
                      saw today's paper and recognized
                      him and...
                          (notices something)
                      You're police?

Agent Dhiver eyes Dawn suspiciously, but then seems to give her
            the benefit of the doubt.

                                AGENT DHIVER
                      Special Agent Harold Dhiver,
                      Federal Bureau of Investigations.

                                DAWN
Does the FBI usually get involved
                      in local deaths?

                                AGENT DHIVER
                          (quickly)
                      Paul's death might be connected
to some drug trafficking. We have
to cover all the bases. Do you
know anything that could shed any
                      light on the investigation?

                                DAWN
No, sorry. I only knew him from
                      class.
                          (looks at her watch)
I really have to get going.

                                AGENT DHIVER
Right. If you learn anything that
could help, feel free to give me
                      a call.

Agent Dhiver holds out a business card, which Dawn takes and
looks over before putting it in her purse. She then turns and
heads down the hallway and exits.

Dhiver's partner, Agent Allison Murdoch, finishes her interview
with the student in the background and walks up to Dhiver, who's
looking down the hallway after Dawn.

                                AGENT MURDOCH
Dhiver, What was that all about?

Dhiver puts his hands on his bruised ribs and winces in pain.

                                AGENT DHIVER
                      No idea, Murdoch. No idea.

13 INT. MYSTIC CURIOS VOODOO SHOP - EVENING 13

Mystic Curios is in the French Quarter and it has a distinctly
quaint feeling about it. Voodoo antiques and relics dot the
            shelves in this small shop.

Through the large glass windows at the front of the shop, we see
Jess pass by. After a moment, WE PAN to see the side door of the
shop open and Jess walks in.

LAURENT GAUTIER, a Haitian man in his late fifties, is busy at
the back of the shop. He sees Jess and smiles.

                                LAURENT
                          (Caribbean accent)
Jessamine. How good to see you
again. You haven't come around in
                      a while.

                                JESS
I know. School keeps me rather
busy and I haven't needed any
                      ingredients in a while.

                                LAURENT
I have a special sale on ritual
                      herbs...

                                JESS
I'm actually not here to buy
                      anything. I have some questions
                      for you.

                                LAURENT
Well, I tried. What can I help
                      you with?

                                JESS
There was a death on campus last
night. The student who found the
body claimed to have seen two
                      snake-like monsters exiting the
                      crime scene. The police, of
                      course, are calling it wild
                      animals.

                                LAURENT
And you do not agree with the
                      wonderful Police Department?

                                JESS
A mummy was also stolen from the
                      anthropology department. These
                      two events aren't coincidence.

Laurent walks behind the counter and pulls a book from
underneath it. He starts to leave through it.

                                LAURENT
                      Interesting. You said the student
                      witnessed two creatures?

                                JESS
                      Yes. That's right.

Laurent stops on a specific page.

                                LAURENT
                      Legend tells that a powerful
spell can be used to call upon
the Nyiss - the clan of snake
                      assassins. They always operate in
                      pairs.
                          (beat; looks through the
                           book)
                      That's all I can figure out, I'm
                      afraid.

                                JESS
                      No, that's great. You've been a
                      great help Laurent. Thank you.

                                LAURENT
It's always wonderful to see you,
Jessamine. Are you sure I can't
                      interest you in anything?

Jess looks around the shop, plainly wanting to look around. She
            gives in.

                                JESS
Well, I guess I can browse for a
                      short time.

     14 INT. AMY'S OFFICE - NIGHT 14

Jake and Pete are going through some books in one corner, while
Amy and Tori are doing the same in the other corner. Suzi's busy
going through some newspapers on the coffee table in front of
the sofa with Tori. Dawn strides in the entrance and goes right
past Amy, who looks like she wants to ask Dawn something.
            Instead, Dawn heads to Jake.

                                DAWN
                      Jake, you're computer guy, right?

                                JAKE
                          (looks up)
                      Yeah... I guess. Why?

                                DAWN
I need to get the coroner's
report of the murder victim found
this morning. Can you handle it?

Jake gets up and walks over to where his laptop is plugged in at
a desk to one side of the room. Dawn follows.

                                JAKE
Handle it? Handle it's my middle
                      name.
(sits down and starts to work
                           at the laptop)
                      Wait... That made absolutely no
                      sense.

            Dawn peers over Jake's shoulder.

                                DAWN
                      Kay. CSI-me.

                                JAKE
                      One coroner's report, coming
                      right up. Complete with...
                          (looks; disgusted)
                      Color pictures I really didn't
                      want to see. Here.

Jake, a sick look on his face, gets up and offers the chair to
Dawn, who sits down and starts to go through the information on
            the laptop.

                                DAWN
                      Hmm. Definitely could be mistaken
                      for wild animals... but... eugh!

                                JAKE
Do I even want to know?

                                DAWN
                      The body was hemorrhaging before
                      death. The coroner found evidence
                      of poison, but nothing previously
                      known.

Amy walks over and takes a look. Dawn, noticing her, gets up and
            moves away.

                                AMY
Well. It's something to go on at
                      least. Creatures that produce
                      hemorrhaging poison... hmmm.
                          (looks around)

                                SUZI (O.S.)
Guys? I think I found something
                      important.

Dawn, Jake, and Amy look up to see Suzi pointing at an article
inside one of the newspapers she was going through. Amy walks
over and picks up the paper.

                                SUZI (CONT'D)
                      Two Komodo Dragons went missing
                      from the Audobon Zoo this
                      morning, and I'm thinking
                      coincidence... nuh-uh.

     15 INT. WOMEN'S LOCKER ROOM - NIGHT 15

It's a locker room - high ceilinged, dimly lit, rows of lockers -
you get the idea. We can hear a SHOWER somewhere O.S. The sounds
stop and a FEMALE STUDENT, towel wrapped around her body, exits
the shower room and walks over to one of the lockers.

She dials the combination on the locker and starts to go through
her things. Suddenly, the girl hears something. She glances
around - trying to find the source of the sound.

                                FEMALE STUDENT
                      Hello...?

            No answer.

                                FEMALE STUDENT (CONT'D)
                      Anyone there?

            ANGLE - SNAKE-DEMON'S POV

We're creeping up on the girl from behind - she doesn't see us.

                                FEMALE STUDENT (CONT'D)
                      Really not funny...

            CLOSE ON THE GIRL

The demon behind her HISSES - the girl whips around and SCREAMS.
She backs away - right into the second demon behind her. She
            SCREAMS again.

                                                              SMASH CUT TO:
